Security / Fire Alarm System Installer -  Interface Systems, New Orleans, LA

SUMMARY
Install and/or service customer’s residential and commercial security equipment including alarm systems, CCTV, card access, fire systems and associated components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform proper installation of security type equipment
• Adhere to local and national building/construction codes, including safety standards
• Stay abreast of product knowledge, pricing adjustments and availability of special product applications
• Maintain good, solid, honest, open relationship with all departments and the management staff
• Submit activity reports to management as requested
• Carry out assignments given by management
• Train the customer in the care and use of equipment
• Equip company vehicle with proper parts and tools needed to perform installations
• Attend classroom and field training as required
• Comply with Interface’s safety policy
• Maintain a good driving record
• Inform the Installation Supervisor or Manager of any events that may cause labor or equipment overages, damage of property and safety issues
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma required, bachelors degree preferred.
• NBFAA level 1.
• Technical training and electronic background.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Maintain industry certifications as required.
• Maintain clear driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers to explain how system works and the installation process.
• Knowledge and ability to operate hand tools such as a drill, hammer, pliers, and cutters.

While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to sit. Employee is frequently required to use the telephone.  The employee must frequently lift objects up to 75 pounds that could include company materials, files and small equipment.  Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus in order to view reports, computer screen, forms and operating manuals.

While at customer site, employee may be required to climb a ladder, carry equipment weighing up to 75 lbs., crawl or kneel.

While performing the duties on the job, the employee may be exposed to high, confined spaces.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Driving a motor vehicle while seated for periods of up to two hours or more.  Working around 120-volt electricity.

Work is performed indoors in a fluorescent-lit workspace at the employer’s office. Employee will visit customer sites.
