Service Technician - Interface Security Systems, New Orleans, LA

SUMMARY
Provide service for customers residential and commercial security equipment including alarm systems, CCTV, card access, fire systems, and associated components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and availability of special product applications.
  • Submit accurate and timely documentation to immediate supervisor (Billing, Reports, Data Entry Information, and Time Cards)
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to ensure continued satisfaction of Interface’s customers
  • Attend classroom and field training as required
  • Comply with Interface’s vehicle policy.
  • Maintain a good driving record.
  • Comply with Interface’s safety policies.
  • Responsible for equipping company vehicle with proper supplies/parts/tools needed to perform installations.
  • Perform customer instruction on system operation and functionality.
  • Perform system testing and signal verification.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repair of advances installations using test equipment and PC’s.
  • Keep manager apprised of any service or customer issues that need addressed.
  • Ensure compliance with all local codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Technical school certification in basic electronics.

SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Ability to trouble shoot and repair all company installed burglar alarm and fire alarm systems.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and repair all CCTV and card access systems.
  • Maintain an acceptable level of repaired systems efficiency.
  • Maintain industry certifications and licenses as required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effective before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently exposed to high, confined places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Driving a motor vehicle while seated for periods of up to 2 hours or more. Working around 120-volt electricity.
